Norman Finkelstein is an outspoken American academic and author. He received his doctorate in 1988 from Princeton University for a thesis on the theory of Zionism.

He has authored several books including Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History, The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering, Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict among others.

Finkelstein has taught at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University and DePaul University.

In a highly controversial decision DePaul University denied him tenure in June 2007 after having taught there for six years. This case among others has raised the issue of academic freedom to the forefront of our discussions about the role of universities in society.

In a time where public debate about the Israel-Palestine conflict is muffled by fear of controversy, a bold and dynamic speaker such as Dr. Finkelstein provides a much needed voice that challenges the level of awareness of a vastly misinformed public.
